Side work with a eased edge
Ease the hours before you add work
A weekly maximum is the bevel on your calendar. Without it, extra jobs catch on rest.
A sharp week has no spare edge. Extra work then splits evenings and sleep.
Cut a small angle first
- Write down a weekly maximum you can keep when the day job is heavy.
- Leave one evening without side work.
- When a new request would pass the line, offer a later date.
The bevel is small on purpose. It is easier to widen later than to recover a week that splintered.
